The Oklahoma School Counselor Association (OSCA) is a chartered state division of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and a division of the Oklahoma Counseling Association (OCA), which is a state branch of the American Counseling Association (ACA) which supports School Counselors' efforts to help students focus on academic, personal / social and career development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society. OSCA provides professional development and networking opportunities to Professional School Counselors in Oklahoma.


OSCA Fall Conference: Call for Presentations

As a presenter at the 2014 Oklahoma School Counselor Association Fall Conference, you will have the opportunity to showcase your knowledge, experience, and research to other school counselors in your state. Individuals can submit proposals for consideration in workshop presentation format.

  • Workshops will be either one or two-hour in length.
  • All presentations are expected to offer ways for school counselors to implement the program and innovative opportunities designed to help attendees increase their understanding of the skills related to school counseling.
  • Presentations will be selected on conference relevance and how well the proposed workshop addresses school counseling issues.

OSCA will provide a complimentary conference registration and lunch for those proposals that are selected. Deadline to submit is September 1, 2014. Call for Presentations information is now available for download.


2014 OSCA Fall Conference

Mark your Calendars! The OSCA Fall Conference, What Works In School Counseling!, with Dr. Carey Dimmitt, Ph.D. is scheduled for November 13-14, 2014. Additional information on the conference is now available.


O.S.C.A.R. (Oklahoma School Counseling Accountability Report)

The O.S.C.A.R is a continuous improvement tool that gives a school counselor an opportunity to demonstrate effective communication and a commitment to getting results in their counseling program. The need for greater accountability in school counseling practice is widely accepted within the profession. Results indicate that participation led to an increased use of student outcomes data for program improvement, and increased awareness about student support programs among stakeholders. Apply to receive an O.S.C.A.R. for your school counseling program. Download the guide and submit your O.S.C.A.R. Deadline is July 31, 2014.


School Counselor of the Year

The School Counselor of the Year Award honors the best of the best - counselors who are running a top-notch, comprehensive school counseling program at either the elementary, middle or high school level. Please be sure to nominate a deserving school counselor today! Nominations due by June 13, 2014.


Dr. Jerry Chandler Scholarship

The Dr. Jerry Chandler Scholarship is for OSCA members in a Guidance and Counseling graduate program. Dr. Chandler retired from UCO after many years as a professor and mentor in the school counseling program. He promoted professionalism and the role of the school counselor in Oklahoma. July 1 is the deadline. Download and submit your scholarship application.
